Welcome

We are very excited about this newly re-designed site created with expert assistance from our webmaster John Refano.  I am particularly intrigued by this blog and the chance to talk shop with people in our industry across the country and the world. Actually we cross a few different but related industries in our work and so there is an even larger number of possibilities for interesting discourse.

Here in my maiden blog I'd like to throw out the following question to anyone and everyone.

What do you think the severe economic situation will do to both the advertising and broadcast industries?

I look forward to speaking with you all in the near future.

All the best-

I think both advertising and broadcast industries will be challenged by lower revenues as advertisers will spend less and expect more for their money. Small independent firms with less overhead will have to be flexible and offer better customer service in order to compete. The "credit crunch" will affect business' ability to replace old equipment. Ultimately, the poor economic situation may lead to consolidation/merger in those industries.
I believe the economic situation will further reduce the level of brand or image advertising that appears as companies move towards advertising where they can see a measurable return on investment. You'll see , and are seeing, more media opportunities present themselves as major advertisers- financial institutions, automakers pull back from traditional sponsorships of big events. Lastly I expect the "life" of commercials to lengthen as companies try to save on production dollars. Russ Petrocine, President LoBo & Petrocine
Unfortunately tight money will always result in clients reducing not only their media budgets but the actual number of productions they do. Fortunately MEDIA MECHANIX is a cost-effective alternative so ultimately the bad economy may turn out to be a good thing for us! ;-)
I'm sure everyone is going to be more frugal and careful with their expenditures. We've already felt some ripples. Hopefully, we can all weather the tide!
